Australia is a popular student destination because of its unique environment, high-quality education and great laid back atmosphere. If you are interested in studying in the Gold Coast, one of the important points to consider is how much everything is going to cost.

Tuition fees

One thing that helps you to save money while staying in Australia is the ability to pay for the courses beforehand. This will make your budgeting easier during your schooling and it can also help you with saving up money for your education before you even end up in Australia.

Certificate Levels I to IV, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma all of these courses are called the vocational training. If you are going to Australia for vocational education and/or training, you will pay anywhere from $4,000 (for a 4 to 6 month Certificate I program) to $22,000 (for a complete advanced diploma program).

A master’s degree costs $20,000-37,000, with a doctoral degree ranging from $14,000 to $37,000.

The most affordable option is to enrol for the English course - ELICOS. English language courses, on average, cost about $300/week depending on the length of the course that you are taking.

Accommodation

It’s no surprise to most Australians that the cost of living varies greatly from one city, state or territory to another. The most expensive place to live in the country is Sydney of course. Melbourne, Darwin and Perth trail closely behind.

We offer our students a homestay accommodation in the Gold Coast  including 2 meals on a week day and 3 on weekends. Prices start from 260$ per week. Of course you can rent an apartment on your own. Monthly rent for a 45 m2 furnished studio in the not expensive area will cost 1,500$+.

Health Cover

If you are an overseas student studying in Australia, you need to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

The cost of the OSHC policy will depend on the level of cover that you choose; however, according to Canstar’s research, the lowest cost of minimum cover is $438/year for singles cover, $2,685/year for couples cover and $4,026/year for family cover (Australian dollars).

In order to work or open a bank account in Australia, you must obtain a TFN (Tax File Number). Your TFN is confidential. If you work in Australia , you are required to file a tax return, which is tracked through your TFN. As an international student, you will likely receive a refund when you file your tax return.

Your hour rate depends on your previous experience. If you don’t have any, the average income is 15-19$ per hour. For students who come with some past working experience, it may rise up to 30$ per hour. It’s flexible and also depends on the business you choose to work in.
